Ranbir Kapoor Reunites with Sanjay Leela Bhansali After 17 Years for ‘Love & War’

Ranbir Kapoor is all set to collaborate once again with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the upcoming epic romantic drama Love & War, marking their first project together in 17 years. The film also stars Kapoor’s wife Alia Bhatt and Sanju co-star Vicky Kaushal, raising expectations for this star-studded venture.

Kapoor, who debuted with Bhansali’s Saawariya in 2007, expressed his excitement about working with the legendary director once more during his appearance at the 50th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

In an emotional conversation, Kapoor described Bhansali as his “godfather” and credited him for shaping his career. “I am extremely excited, and even now, I still respect him so much. Everything I know about films and acting, I learned from him,” Kapoor shared. He also praised Bhansali’s dedication, mentioning that the director remains as hardworking and passionate as ever.

Aside from discussing Love & War, Kapoor also revealed plans for a special tribute to his grandfather, Raj Kapoor, at the upcoming festival. The event, set for December 13-15, 2024, will honor the late actor’s 100th birth anniversary, with 10 restored films to be released nationwide. Kapoor confirmed that the restoration project is a collaboration between NFDC, NFAI, and the Film Heritage Foundation.

Love & War, a love triangle set against a backdrop of war, has already generated significant buzz, with Kapoor portraying a complex grey character.
