As Punjab battles its worst floods in nearly four decades, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has emerged as one of the first stars to be seen on ground zero. The actor, associated with Global Sikhs NGO founder Amarpreet Singh and his friend Maninder Singh for more than a decade, is actively helping distribute essentials in Gurdaspur, the worst-affected district.
Taking to social media, Randeep amplified the NGO’s message that read, “PUNJAB FLOOD RELIEF 2025.True to his spirit, @randeephooda has once again stood up for Punjab. He is on ground zero with Global Sikhs, extending his support in our ongoing flood relief efforts. Together, we continue to bring hope and help where it’s needed most.” His presence has been hailed as a morale booster for the volunteers and affected families alike.
The film industry has come forward in large numbers to extend support. Alia Bhatt shared donation links, Sonu Sood launched a helpline, Diljit Dosanjh adopted ten villages, while Ammy Virk pledged to rebuild 200 homes. Stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Shilpa Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Gippy Grewal, Satinder Sartaaj, and Karan Aujla have also voiced solidarity.
Meanwhile, official data paints a grim picture. At least 29 lives have been lost, with over 1,655 villages submerged across 12 districts. Rivers Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej have breached their banks after relentless rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, leaving Punjab struggling to recover.
