Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji has marked a major milestone in her career as she completes 30 years in the film industry. To commemorate the occasion, a heartfelt note written by the actor was shared by Yash Raj Films on Instagram on Monday, offering a reflective look at her journey, from her debut to the present day.
Rani entered Hindi cinema with Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat in 1997, a film she says shaped her understanding of what acting truly means. In her note, the actor shared that she did not enter films with a fixed plan or long-term ambition. Instead, cinema found her unexpectedly, and somewhere between fear and instinct, she discovered her love for the craft. She admitted that even today, she still feels nervous while facing the camera, much like she did in her early days.
Reflecting on her debut, Rani said the film taught her that cinema is rooted in responsibility before glamour. Playing a woman fighting for dignity early in her career left a lasting impact and helped define the kind of actor she wanted to be. She described the late 1990s as a magical phase, filled with learning, meaningful collaborations, and an increasing awareness of how deeply films connect with audiences.
The early 2000s, she noted, became a period of self-discovery. Rani described Saathiya as a turning point that allowed her to embrace flawed and emotional characters. Her desire to avoid perfection on screen led her to roles like Hum Tum, which showed that women could be strong, funny, and vulnerable at the same time. Expressing gratitude to her audience, Rani said that completing 30 years feels surreal, but her hunger to grow as an actor remains strong.
