Raphael Varane out of Champions League fixture against Chelsea with a muscle injury

Real Madrid star defender, Raphael Varane gets ruled out of the second leg Champions League fixture against Chelsea. He has sustained a muscle injury on his right thigh.

He was injured in their recent game against Osasuna in La Liga, they won the game 2-0 in a comfortable manner, he was substituted at half time in that fixture. Varane will be missing the action for around 10 days and will miss the games at home, against Sevilla, who are their competitors in the title race and their away game against Granada.

Varane also missed the quarter-finals against Liverpool due to coronavirus infection, Madrid won the game against the Liverpool side. Varane played the last leg against Chelsea which they played last week, it ended up in a draw.

Real will be strengthening their defence after Varane’s departure by adding Sergio Ramos, who’s back after an injury and left-back Ferland Mendy. Real will be hoping to enter the 16th Champions League final and win this title for the 14th time in their history.
