With only a few days till the World T20 final, Indian players, including Jadeja, have begun preparing for the maiden summit battle in Southampton. Jadeja had a fantastic season with Chennai Super Kings in the recently-cancelled Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, scoring 62 off 28 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore, including a 37-run over comprising five sixes and a boundary.

Following the inaugural WTC, the England series will begin at Nottingham (August 4-8), followed by matches at Lord’s (August 12-16), Leeds (August 25-29), the Oval (Sep 2-6), and Manchester (Sep 10-14). The Indian camp, which is now serving an eight-day strict quarantine in Mumbai, is scheduled to leave on June 2 if all playing and non-playing members return three negative RT-PCR findings.

Jadeja, who is rated third in the ICC Test rankings for all-rounders, was last seen playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. In seven matches for Chennai Super Kings, he scored 131 runs and took six wickets.

Jadeja is one of the senior members of the Test team, with 51 Tests under his belt and 1954 runs at 36.18 and 220 wickets at 24.32, and he is set to appear as the lone all-rounder in the Indian XI in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who has not been selected for the tour.
