Real Madrid has been interested in signing Guler for the past couple of weeks and have agreed to pay more than his rumoured €17.5m (£15m/$19m) release clause. He will join Madrid on a 6 year contract worth €20 million (£17 million/$22 million), with up to €10 million in add-ons. Fenerbache is said to have a 20% sell-on clause for the 18-year-old.
The Spanish giants beat rivals Barcelona and a handful of other big clubs for his signing. Guler is their 4th summer signing, following Jude Bellingham, Joselu and Fran Garcia in a busy window.
Fenerbahce affirmed Guler’s exit on Thursday afternoon, “The parties have agreed on the transfer of our professional football player Arda Güler to the Spanish Club Real Madrid CF in exchange for the termination of the player’s contract with us for 20 million euros.” The statement added, “The solidarity contribution fees that will arise as per the FIFA instructions will be paid by Real Madrid CF. In addition to the transfer fee, a maximum bonus of 10 million Euros will be paid to our Club by Real Madrid CF, depending on the performance of the Player.”
Guler will be introduced to the media on Friday at noon and will begin training with Los Blancos in the following weeks.
