Carlo Ancelotti, head coach of Real Madrid, will take over as manager of the Brazilian national team once his contract with the Spanish capital city club expires.
Brazil has been looking for a new coach for their senior squad since the exit of former coach Tite following the country’s early exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, when they were defeated by 2018 World Cup losing finalists Croatia.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market expert, tweeted, “BREAKING: Carlo Ancelotti will become new Brazilian national team head coach starting from June 2024. CBF president Ednaldo just confirmed that Ancelotti will be new manager of Brazil “starting from Copa America 2024”. Carlo will respect his contract at Real Madrid.”
The appointment of Fernando Diniz as head coach of Brazil’s national team is for a 12-month period that will end when Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid contract expires.
Brazil had been looking to bring in the experienced 64-year-old since Tite stepped down and they appear to have at last agreed to terms to land the coveted signature of the celebrated Italian.
With his recent success at Real Madrid in the 2021-22 season, Ancelotti became the first manager in history to win the UEFA Champions League 4 times. The Madrid giants staged one spectacular comeback after the other on their way to their record 14th UCL title.
