On Monday, Real Madrid completed the loan signing of Spain striker Joselu from relegated Espanyol for the next season. “Real Madrid and Espanyol have agreed on the loan of Joselu, who will be at the club for next season with an option to buy at the end of it,” said Madrid in a statement.
The 33-year-old attacker has 3 goals in 4 appearances for his national team and helps Madrid reinforce a depleted attack.
Karim Benzema, Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz have all gone, making a place for significant reinforcements.
Joselu, a journeyman striker who has played for ten clubs in Spain, Germany and England, previously played for Real Madrid B and made 1 La Liga appearance for Los Blancos during the 2010-11 season.
Despite Espanyol’s relegation, Joselu ended the season as La Liga’s third-best goalscorer with 16, giving him a call-up to the national team squad for the Nations League final four.
The target man scored a last-minute victory against Italy in the semi-finals and came off the bench again in the final against Croatia on Sunday as Spain won in the Netherlands.
