Sachin Tendulkar is the only player to have scored one hundred international centuries, the first batsman to score a double century in an ODI, he holds the record for the most runs in both Test and ODI, and the only player to complete 34,357 runs in international cricket. He made his international debut at the age of 16 against Pakistan on 15th November 1989. After the tour of Pakistan, Tendulkar toured New Zealand, and scored 88 in one of the Test matches, missing out on becoming the youngest Test centurion of all time by 12 runs. He, at last, got to the century when India visited England in 1990, as he ended up scoring 119* in the fourth innings at Manchester, digging India out of a hole and putting them in a good enough position to win the match.
In the wake of scoring a 100 in Manchester, he kept on scoring runs. In the Australian tour, he scored a 148 at Sydney and turned himself into the youngest batsman to score a Test hundred in Australia, and he also scored a 114 on a bouncy WACA wicket, which is popularly regarded by himself and experts, as perhaps his best Test innings. He kept on performing especially well abroad, as he visited South Africa in 1996/97 and scored a phenomenal 169 at Cape Town. It was a game that India proceeded to lose, but Tendulkar saved India from an awful circumstance. The innings of 143 runs by Tendulkar at the Sharjah in 1998 Coca-Cola Cup against Australia is still considered to be the best ODI innings of his and the innings is named as ‘Desert Storm’.
He has played 200 Test matches and scored 15,921 runs with an average of 53.79. He has 51 test centuries besides his name, which is also the highest number of centuries by any batsman. He has scored most of his test runs against Australia. He has scored 3630 runs in 39 matches and 74 innings with an average of 55 scoring 11 centuries and 16 half-centuries. He is the second batsman after Jack Hobbs and the first Indian batsman to score 3000 plus runs against the Aussies.
In the ODI he has scored 18,426 runs in 463 matches with an average of 44.83. He has 49 ODI centuries and it is still the highest by any batsman. Tendulkar has scored 3113 runs against Sri Lanka, which makes it the most runs by any batsman in ODI’s against a single opposition. He holds the record for most runs by a batsman in ICC Cricket World Cup, he has scored a total of 2,278 runs in the six World Cup (1992-2011) that he played.
