Replacing manhole with machine holes, Government to amend Manual Scavenging Act

Manual Scavenging Act refers to mechanised cleaning of sewage and septic tanks and an additional 24×7 helpline for reporting it’s violations. Government is ready to set up key measures for stopping manual scavenging across the country. On Thursday, the centre launched a ‘challenge’ involving every state to scrap manual scavenging offering a price of Rs 52 crore to the winner state. On-ground assessment will be done in May, and results will peak on August 15, 2021.
