Rhea Chakraborty opens up about egg freezing, marriage pressure and choosing career growth in her 30s

Rhea Chakraborty is opening up about her life choices with refreshing honesty. In the latest episode of her podcast Chapter 2, the actor shared that she has taken the first step toward egg freezing, a decision she says many women silently struggle with.

Speaking to Huma Qureshi on the YouTube show, Rhea revealed, “I am 33 and I recently visited a gynaecologist for egg freezing. I am thinking about doing it.” She explained the emotional conflict many women in their 30s feel, adding, “Your body clock is telling you that you need to have kids, but your mind is telling you that you already have a kid, your brand, your business and you need to nurture that baby.”

Her candid admission struck a chord online, especially among women navigating the same crossroads of ambition and biology. Rhea also made it clear she refuses to treat marriage as a ticking deadline. In an earlier conversation with Humans of Bombay, she said she wouldn’t mind marrying in her 40s, questioning why women alone bear the pressure: “Men don’t feel this. Because of the biological clock.”

While she acknowledged egg freezing is “a bit torturous,” she encouraged women to consider it if needed. For now, Rhea is prioritising her career. “I’m 32 and I don’t think I’m ready yet because I want to do a lot of things in my professional life,” she said, noting how many of her friends have also chosen this path.
