Ricky Ponting suggests Australia need a MS Dhoni like finisher for T20 World Cup

The two-time world cup winner former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has informed the Aussies from down under desperately needs to find a player who can be a finisher in this year’s T20 World Cup. He also pointed how Aaron Finch’s side still does not have a finisher and Ponting highlighted big finishers like MS Dhoni, Kieren Pollard or Hardik Pandya are the need of the hour in the shortest format.

He further stated that the spot he thinks they’ve always been worried about is that finishing role, and one of the reasons for that is all of their best batsman bats in the top four in the Big Bash, so they’ve actually got no one that’s consistently batting in that area. it’s a very specialist position to be able to go in in with three of four overs to go along with 50 runs needed and be able to chase it.

Ponting also added that Dhoni has been in that one spot his whole career and no wonder he’s good at it. Hardik Pandya and Kieren Pollard are similar with these guys continually win games of cricket for their country and in the IPL, they are used to going in that position. That’s what the Aussies need to find. Is it going to be Glenn Maxwell (big show) and Mitchell Marsh that are going to finish the games or is it going to be Marcus Stoinis? he thinks that’s the area that they’re more worried about. The top order will look after themselves as everyone is batting in the top order in Big Bash.
