Rihanna is not holding back when it comes to AI-generated content misusing her voice. The Grammy-winning artist recently slammed an Instagram user for posting a video featuring her AI-cloned voice, leading to a swift admission from the account’s admin.
Rihanna confronts AI-generated voice on instagram
The video in question, titled Rihanna’s Most Expensive Products, was uploaded by the page The Scroll TV. The clip featured a voiceover mimicking Rihanna, which was actually generated using artificial intelligence.
Catching wind of the post, the Diamonds singer commented under it, writing:
“Who tf is this talking??!”
The admin, realizing the misstep, pinned Rihanna’s comment and responded:
“AI-generated. Yes, it is.”
The AI-generated voice was reportedly extracted from Rihanna’s 2023 Super Bowl press conference, where she discussed her halftime performance. The edited voiceover made it seem like Rihanna was personally narrating the video, when in reality, she had no involvement.
The caption of the post hyped up Rihanna’s luxurious lifestyle, stating:
“From a $13.8 million Beverly Hills mansion with a spa and breathtaking views to a $1 million crystal-embellished piano by Bösendorfer, Rihanna knows how to live it up in style.”
It continued:
“Her lifestyle reflects her hard work, talent, and unapologetic embrace of the finer things in life.”
Rihanna isn’t the first celebrity to call out AI-generated misrepresentations.
In 2024, Tom Hanks raised concerns after discovering his AI-cloned voice being used in fraudulent advertisements. The Forrest Gump actor warned fans:
“These ads have been created without my consent, fraudulently and through AI. I have nothing to do with these posts, the products, or the so-called treatments being promoted.”
What’s next for Rihanna?
On the work front, Rihanna is gearing up for her upcoming animated movie—the next Smurfs film, set to be released in 2025.
As AI technology advances, celebrities like Rihanna and Tom Hanks are making it clear that unauthorized use of their voices and likenesses won’t be tolerated.
