Robert Pattinson, who welcomed his first child with fiancée Suki Waterhouse in March 2024, recently shared a heartwarming detail about his special connection with his daughter—her unique scent.
In an interview with Vogue on January 20, the Mickey 17 star, 38, expressed his fascination with the way his baby smells, calling it unlike anything he had ever encountered. “I remember people saying, ‘Oh, don’t you just love the smell of babies?’ and I always assumed they were just talking about baby powder,” he recalled.
However, after becoming a father, Pattinson experienced something different. “But then I had a baby, and I was like, ‘My baby smells incredible.’ She doesn’t smell like other babies,” he shared. He also noted that her distinct fragrance allows him to recognize her instantly, even in a crowd.
Experts like Dr. Marty Ellington Jr. suggest that a baby’s natural scent can play a significant role in parent-child bonding. Unique physical characteristics, including smell, can deepen a parent’s attachment, fostering an even stronger emotional connection.
According to sources from People, Pattinson and Waterhouse have embraced parenthood wholeheartedly. “They are very much in love and incredibly happy. They take turns working so that one of them is always available to care for their daughter. Rob is an amazing dad,” the source revealed. The couple also makes an effort to travel together, ensuring their baby is part of their adventures.
As Pattinson enjoys fatherhood, he is also gearing up for his next big project. He is currently promoting Mickey 17, the highly anticipated sci-fi film directed by Bong Joon Ho, which is set to hit theaters on March 7, 2025.
