Ronaldo becomes the first person on Instagram to hit 300 million followers

Cristiano Ronaldo, the star striker for the Portuguese national team, became the first individual to reach 300 million Instagram followers on Friday.

On the same platform, the Juventus star was also the first to achieve the 200 million mark.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Portugal, made European Championships history earlier this week when he scored a record-breaking 10th and 11th Euro final round goals against Hungary in the opening match of Euro 2020.

On Tuesday, Ronaldo surpassed France’s Michel Platini’s nine-goal record as the all-time highest scorer in the European Championships.

Only France’s Antoine Griezmann, who has six goals in seven Euro matches, comes close to matching the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo’s late brace also moved him to 106 international goals, three short of Iranian forward Ali Daei’s all-time record of 109 international goals.

At 36 years and 130 days, the Juventus striker became the oldest player to score for Portugal at a major competition (World Cup and Euros).

Raphael Guerreiro’s deflected shot opened the scoring for the 2016 champions only six minutes before full-time against Hungary before Ronaldo stole the show with a superb penalty and a fantastic one-two with Rafa in extra time to put the ball into the back of the empty net.

Portugal leads Group F and will face Germany in Munich on June 19, while Hungary’s next match will be against France on the same day.
