Daily Ninja Delivery Services Ltd and their parent company Supermarket Groceries Pvt. Ltd were both served notices by Town Essentials Pvt, Ltd of Rs.231 crore for not honouring a contract that is in force. Supermarket Grocery Supplies Pvt Ltd. handles Big Basket which bought Daily Ninja in March 2020.
In October 2017 Town Essentials signed a contract with Daily Ninja. According to the contract, Daily Ninja was supposed to be their backend supplier and procurement partner. The contract was to remain valid despite the acquisition of the company by Big Basket. Daily Ninja, however, said that after acquisition they have to move customers to BBDaily because of which they will have to raise billings with Big Basket. BBDaily is the e-subscription service of Big Basket along with DailyNinja.
Town Essentials believes this is breach of contract and has claimed a total loss of Rs.231 crore
