Run The World Season 2: Plot

The show is an updated version of and a nod to Sex and the City (Ella calls her boyfriend Anderson her Big but Sondi reminds her that the famed character was tall, rich, and had a driver), but, Run the World has its own vibe and milieu. It has some irreverent dialogue and writing, with racism and feminism finding a frequent and not-so-subtle portrayal. Renee describes the American work scenario as a “CC and BCC kind of passive-aggressive culture,” where Black people are invisible.

The four girls have such impeccable chemistry that one might forget it’s all just on-screen. You will soon find out how distinct yet similar they are. Their unbridled cocktail-hour chatter is berserk and risque yet often poignant. The sequence of consulting a common therapist is easily the highlight, which brings out their insecurities behind the confident facade and gripe with each other despite being so thick with each other.
