Russia destroys storage units at Ukraine’s Black Sea port days after suspending the wartime deal

Russian cruise missiles destroyed farm storage building in the Odesa region early Friday, said Ukrainian official. This comes after three days of bombardment of the region’s Black Sea port infrastructure and now it has expanded its target.

Russia seems to be attempting to cripple Ukraine’s food exports as it has also damaged an “important infrastructure facility” southwest of the port of the city of Odesa.

Odesa has been caught up in the Russia – Ukraine war after the former suspended the Black Sea Grain deal that allowed the latter to export grain through the Black Sea port.

Regional Gov. Oleh Kiper shared that in the attack, the storage unit was first hit by two of the low flying cruise missiles, which started a blaze. Later, while the firefighters were diminishing the damage, another missile struck. The attack has injured two people, damaged equipment and destroyed 100 metric tons of peas and 20 metric tons of barley, shared Kiper.

Russia suspended the wartime deal and vowed to target Ukraine’s grain export after its crucial bridge between Russia and the Moscow-annexed Crimean Peninsula.

Both Ukraine and Russia have announced that they will treat ships traveling to each other’s Black Sea ports as miliary target.
