During the early hours of Wednesday, the Ukrainian forces shot down 11 of Iranian-made Shahed drones fired by Russia, said the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram messaging app.
Ihor Taburets, the military head of the Cherkasy region southeast of Kyiv stated on Telegram app, “A difficult night … The enemy attacked our area with ‘Shaheds’.” The message also revealed that two personnels were injured as fire broke out at a non-residential infrastructure facility.
Russia had also launched series of Iranian-made Shahed on Kyiv and other regions during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), based in Washington, DC, said that the Ukrainian military reported shooting down 26 of 28 Shahed 131 and 136 drones. It added that the attack was Russia’s demonstrative response to the 2023 NATO Summit.
