Authorities in a South American country have reportedly arrested Brazilian superstar Neymar’s dad for a “environmental crime.” He is been accused of carrying out ‘banned’ work in Neymar’s residence in Mangaratiba. The arrests were reportedly taken out by Mangaratiba City Hall and the Civil Police.
Since then, Neymar’s dad has been released and fined $5 million in Brazilian reals. The authorities got a complaint regarding Neymar’s dad allegedly constructing an artificial lake that ‘promotes deforestation, rock breaking and diversion of a river’. The lake clashed with several environmental fractions, including ‘diversion of water course, abstraction of river water without authorisation, abstraction of water for artificial lake, earthworks, excavation and movement of stones and rocks without authorisation.’
Aside from family troubles, Neymar is going through a difficult period in his professional career. He has been a controversial figure in Paris since his 222 million euro transfer to PSG. He has shown his potential but has yet to achieve the club’s ultimate goal, the UEFA Champions League.
Lionel Messi has already left PSG to join MLS club Inter Miami. Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe is expected to join Real Madrid following the 2023-24 season. The Brazilian is also said to be seeking a new club, with a Saudi Pro League club interested in signing him.
