Concern spread across the film industry on Tuesday after veteran screenwriter Salim Khan was admitted to the ICU at Lilavati Hospital. The development came shortly after his son, actor Salman Khan, was photographed arriving at the Bandra-based hospital, triggering speculation of a medical emergency in the family.
A senior doctor has confirmed that Salim Khan is currently under intensive care but declined to share further medical details. Earlier reports quoted a family friend stating that the 90-year-old had experienced breathing difficulties and was rushed to the hospital promptly. While one source claimed that his condition had improved, another indicated that it remains serious, leaving the family anxious.
Throughout the day, several members of the Khan family were seen visiting the hospital, including Arbaaz Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Aayush Sharma, and grandchildren Nirvaan, Arhaan and Alizeh. Salim Khan’s wives, Helen and Salma Khan, were also present.
Salim Khan, who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, began his career as an actor before transitioning to writing. Alongside Javed Akhtar, he formed the legendary Salim-Javed duo, scripting classics such as Seeta Aur Geeta, Zanjeer, Deewaar, Sholay and Trishul. Their work redefined mainstream Hindi cinema in the 1970s.
