After reports of his divorce from Britney Spears, Sam Asghari has spoken out. According to the BBC, a divorce petition that was recently filed cited “irreconcilable differences” between Sam, 29, and Britney, 41. They were engaged in September 2021 and married in June 2022.
Taking to his Instagram story, Sam penned “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always.” Adding “shit happens.” Sam also added, “asking for privacy seems rediculous,” so he asks “everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
Britney and Sam wedded last year in Thousand Oaks, California, at the former’s house. The event was small but star-studded, with Paris Hilton, Madonna and Drew Barrymore among those in attendance. Britney’s third marriage comes to an end with her divorce from Sam.
Britney wedded her childhood friend Jason Alexander in Las Vegas for 55 hours before the marriage ended in 2004. Jason tried to interfere with Britney’s wedding with Sam and he was previously seen taking part in a pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol in Washington, DC in January 2021. He was later charged with trespassing, vandalism and two counts of battery.
Britney afterwards got hitched to rapper Kevin Federline, with whom she was married from 2004 until 2007. Kevin and Britney have two children, Jayden James and Sean Preston, who are under the sole custody of Kevin.
