Samsung Galaxy XR evolves work in the AI era with new enterprise capabilities and everyday features

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a significant software update for the Galaxy XR, enhancing its enterprise capabilities through Android Enterprise and improving user experiences with usability upgrades. This update ensures the Android XR platform, launched in October 2025, will receive regular software updates, including security patches, for up to five years, reinforcing Samsung’s commitment to long-term performance and security.

Advancing XR with Android Enterprise Support

With the latest update, Galaxy XR now supports Android Enterprise, integrating a trusted management framework used across millions of Android devices into immersive environments. This enhancement provides enterprise-grade control and efficiency, creating a scalable foundation for deployments in industries like training, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail. Samsung Knox on Android Enterprise also ensures strict device security. Key features include:

  • Support for fully managed and dedicated device use cases, offering organizations greater control over Galaxy XR devices in corporate deployments.
  • Device enrollment methods such as Android zero-touch, QR code setup, and Device Policy Controller (DPC) identifier provisioning, simplifying large-scale rollouts.
  • Enterprise app management using Managed Google Play and support for direct installation, facilitating easy deployment and updates of XR applications.
  • Core device management features like setting password policies, network configurations, device restrictions, and remote lock or wipe to protect devices.
  • Hardware-level protections to meet compliance and security standards for safeguarding sensitive enterprise data.

James Choi, EVP and Head of XR R&D Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, “Our vision for XR extends beyond hardware — it’s about building a secure, scalable ecosystem informed by our users.” David Still, VP of Product & Engineering, Android Enterprise at Google, added, “The expansion of Android Enterprise to Android XR brings the trusted security and management framework IT professionals rely on for millions of Android devices to the new era of spatial computing.”

New Enhancements for Everyday Users

In addition to new enterprise capabilities, the latest Android XR update enhances everyday experiences by improving comfort, preserving workflow continuity, expanding accessibility, and unlocking more immersive ways to view content. Features include:

  • Enhanced virtual keyboard positioning, allowing users to save alternate keyboard positions for a more personalized experience.
  • Desktop session restore, which automatically reopens up to three previously used apps in their original layout after rebooting.
  • Expanded accessibility features like single eye tracking and pointer customization, making Galaxy XR more inclusive for users with varying sight or mobility needs.
  • Wall panel alignment, an on-screen guide that helps accurately line up content within a user’s space.
  • Auto Spatialization, available in Google Chrome and YouTube, which converts 2D content into immersive 3D photos and videos.
