Samsung launches One UI 9 beta for Galaxy S26 series users

Samsung Electronics has announced the launch of the One UI 9 beta program, which will be available this week for users of the Galaxy S26 series. This new version, based on Android 17, offers expanded creative tools, more customization options, improved accessibility, and enhanced security measures against potential threats.

The complete One UI 9 experience is set to be unveiled with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy flagship devices later in the year. These devices will feature advanced AI capabilities aimed at simplifying mobile interactions.

What’s New in One UI 9 Beta

The One UI 9 beta brings several updates to improve the mobile experience. Samsung Notes now includes creative tools such as decorative tapes and a broader range of pen line styles. Additionally, the Contacts app has been updated to provide direct access to Creative Studio, allowing users to create personalized profile cards without switching apps.

The Quick Panel has been redesigned to offer greater control over its layout. Users can now independently adjust brightness, sound, and media player settings, with more size options to suit personal preferences.

Accessibility has seen significant improvements with the introduction of adjustable Mouse Key speeds for smoother cursor control. A combined TalkBack package now consolidates features previously offered separately by Google and Samsung. The new Text Spotlight feature displays selected text in a larger or clearer format in a floating window, making reading easier.

One UI 9 also enhances security by providing warnings and blocking the execution and installation of new high-risk apps. Users are advised to delete such apps through security policy updates.

Availability

The One UI 9 beta program is available for Galaxy S26 series users in select markets, including Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the U.K., and the U.S., starting this week. Users can apply to join the beta program through the Samsung Members app.

Service availability may vary based on region, operating system version, device model, and phone carrier. Certain features require the Creative Studio app installation, a network connection, and Samsung Account login. The accuracy of generated outputs and some settings might depend on device configurations and security policy updates.
