Samsung VC, Lee Jae-yong jailed for 2.5 years on the charges of corruption scandal

Vice-chairman of Samsung Electronics, Lee Jae-yong has been sentenced to 2.5 years of imprisonment on the account of corruption scandal. He was found guilty on the charge of bribery and embezzlement in connection with the scandal which brought down Park Geun-hye, President of South Korea.

The court was disappointed and said that it was unfortunate to see Samsung involved in crimes whenever there is a change of political power and scenarios.

Lee Jae-yong had actively provided bribes and has asked the former President to repeatedly use his powers to help smooth his succession and procured certain business favors. Lee was first jailed in 20107 for the term of 5 years.
