Bobby Deol recently stated that in the film Animal, his character Abrar kissed the film’s hero, Ranvijay, portrayed by Ranbir Kapoor. Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film’s director, chose to remove the scene during editing and he has now explained his decision and given more clarity on the kiss scene.
In a new interaction with Galatta Plus, he said, “Yes, actually there was a kiss. Bobby will kiss Ranbir, a kiss on the cheek, and say, ‘Bhai, I didn’t even spend one day with my father’, and he’ll go back and open his zip. It was superb when we were shooting, but I felt like the kiss was diluting the zip. Why I removed it was because Bobby sir gave this expression with a smirk, and a tear falls down his cheek. I felt that was a bigger cinematic high than coming and kissing.”
The film is now the year’s third-highest-grossing Indian movie, making approximately Rs 850 crore globally. Despite huge box office success, the movie got negative reviews. The filmmaker, Vanga, stated that the criticism did not bother him. In any case, he later went on a 20-minute rant, slamming critics and calling them ‘illiterate and uneducated.’
