Sarah Jessica Parker still holds a grudge against a particular outfit she wore in Sex and the City—the beige bridesmaid dress from Charlotte’s wedding.
On the latest episode of the Are You a Charlotte? podcast, host Kristin Davis revealed that Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw, is “literally still mad” about the outfit choice. Despite being a Vera Wang dress, Parker was hesitant to wear beige for the wedding sequence.
Showrunner Michael Patrick King, who joined the podcast, described the filming as “one of the longest days of my life.” He recalled Parker’s frustration, saying she even attempted to alter the dress by cutting it and adding tartan fabric. At one point, she approached Davis, questioning why she had to wear beige at all. Davis simply reminded her that it was Charlotte’s wedding, and all the bridesmaids—including Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall)—had to match.
King also shared behind-the-scenes details about another iconic SATC fashion moment—the Versace “mille-feuille” dress that Carrie wore in Paris during Season 6. Initially, he hesitated to use it for practical reasons, but he later had an epiphany, realizing that the dress was perfect for the moment.
Davis also touched on Parker’s experience filming And Just Like That, revealing that Parker took negative social media comments about Carrie Bradshaw personally. The actress was shocked by anti-Carrie remarks online, asking, “But I mean, how could they not like Carrie?”
