Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty rise to career-high World No 2 ranking after winning the Korea Open

Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, India’s top men’s doubles pair, rose to a career-best 2nd position in the current BWF rankings after winning the Korea Open.

Satwik and Chirag advanced, swapping the Chinese pair of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang, whom they defeated in the Korea Open semifinals last week, to set a new career high in the men’s doubles circuit.

The defending Asian champions have 87,211 points after winning the Korea Open (Super 500), Swiss Open (Super 300) and Indonesia Open (Super 1000) this season.

Satwik and Chirag defeated the world’s world number one pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhamad Rian Ardianto in the Korea Open last week after coming back from a game down. This was their fourth final of the year.

The two are on a 10-match BWF World Tour winning streak and have not lost a final this season.

In the meantime, The two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who made an early exit from the Korea Open early,  has managed to hold on to her 17th spot on the singles list.

Lakshya Sen, winner of the Canada Open, dropped to world number 13 after skipping the Korea Open, while Kidambi Srikanth, who has been in poor form, remains on 20th.
