Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller Dhurandhar brought together a powerful ensemble cast, raising expectations from the moment it was announced. Featuring actors such as Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Akshaye Khanna in strikingly different roles, the film has been widely discussed for its performances. Among them, Akshaye Khanna’s portrayal of Rehman Dakait stood out, drawing particular attention for its intensity and restraint.
Equally noted was his on-screen pairing with actor Saumya Tandon, who played his wife in the film. The two shared limited screen time, yet their chemistry left a strong impression on audiences. Speaking about the experience in a recent interview, Saumya reflected on how naturally their connection came across on screen.
According to Saumya, she and Akshaye did not get many opportunities to interact off camera, but that never affected their performance together. She explained that much of their bond was communicated through expressions and eye contact. She credited Akshaye’s experience and focus as an actor, saying he remains fully present in each moment, which made it easier to respond truthfully in scenes.
Recalling one of the film’s emotionally charged moments, Saumya spoke about the introduction scene that involved a slap. Initially hesitant, she admitted to holding back during rehearsals. However, director Aditya Dhar encouraged her to perform the scene without restraint. After seeking Akshaye’s approval and receiving a calm go-ahead, she followed through with the action.
The scene, which depicts her character reacting to the death of their son, demanded emotional honesty. Saumya said the moment was difficult to perform but necessary for the impact of the story, adding that the support of her co-actor and director helped her deliver the scene convincingly.
