Scarlett Johansson reflects on how she finally got her long-coveted role in Jurassic World Rebirth

Scarlett Johansson is finally joining the Jurassic World franchise after nearly a decade of expressing her interest in a role. She will play Zora Bennet in the upcoming film Jurassic World Rebirth, set to release on July 2, 2025.

Johansson, a longtime fan of the Jurassic Park series, has been eagerly trying to land a part in the franchise. She shared in an interview with Variety that whenever news of a new project in the series surfaced, she’d make sure her agents knew she was available. Her passion for the franchise dates back to her childhood, where she even slept in a Jurassic Park pup tent in her shared bedroom for a year.

Her dedication and enthusiasm for the series led to a special conversation with Steven Spielberg, the director of the original 1993 Jurassic Park. During their meeting, Spielberg acknowledged her fandom, further fueling Johansson’s excitement to be a part of the saga. She confirmed her love for the series, telling Spielberg, “I’m a huge superfan.”

At first, Johansson would have accepted any role, even one where her character was eliminated early. However, she landed a much more significant part in Jurassic World Rebirth, playing Zora Bennet, a former mercenary now leading a group of scientists on a dangerous mission involving dinosaurs.

Fans can look forward to seeing Johansson’s highly anticipated role when Jurassic World Rebirth hits theaters in 2025.
