Sean Diddy Combs files a $50 million USD defamation lawsuit

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has filed a defamation lawsuit against Nexstar Media Group, the parent company of NewsNation, and Courtney Burgess, a grand jury witness, in a New York federal court. Combs is seeking $50 million in damages, alleging that the defendants spread false and malicious statements about him. The lawsuit centers on claims made by Burgess, who allegedly stated in interviews that he possessed explicit footage showing Combs engaging in non-consensual sexual acts with celebrities, including minors.

Combs’ legal team, led by attorney Erica Wolff, argues that these accusations are entirely fabricated and have been amplified for personal gain. Wolff emphasized that the false statements have harmed Combs’ reputation and poisoned public perception, potentially contaminating the jury pool in his ongoing legal matters. She also warned that such intentional misinformation would no longer be tolerated.

The lawsuit cites specific interviews where Burgess claimed that Kim Porter, Combs’ late ex-partner and mother of his children, had sent him videos allegedly depicting Combs attacking intoxicated celebrities and minors. Additionally, the suit references unverified reports from Mitchell, a figure involved in the case, who claimed there were police reports supporting sexual assault accusations against Combs—claims that were ultimately dismissed by authorities.

Burgess’ attorney, Ariel Mitchell, further alleged that tapes were being circulated within Hollywood, with one person reportedly trying to sell a video featuring Combs. Mitchell said the individual reached out to him to “shop” the video before it became public knowledge.

Combs is seeking accountability for what he views as intentional defamation, which he believes has not only damaged his reputation but also jeopardized his right to a fair trial. This legal battle is the latest chapter in Combs’ ongoing efforts to protect his image from what he describes as harmful and unfounded allegations.
