Sebastian Stan hesitantly admits to missing his Marvel costar Anthony Mackie while filming the franchise’s other project

Sebastian Stan may not want to admit it, but he has a soft spot for his longtime friend and co-star, Anthony Mackie! Speaking to Variety, Stan opened up about how much he missed Mackie while working on Thunderbolts, the upcoming Marvel movie. Despite their playful banter and camaraderie, Stan revealed, “It was a much quieter year for me,” adding, “Although I miss Anthony Mackie like daily, and it’s something I don’t like to admit.”

The two have shared the screen multiple times, starting with Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014 and later in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021. Their Marvel characters, Bucky Barnes (Stan) and Sam Wilson (Mackie), formed a deep bond throughout their shared journey, with Mackie’s character eventually taking up the mantle of Captain America. However, when asked about a potential reunion in the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World, Stan remained tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying their involvement.

As for Thunderbolts, Stan teased that fans will enjoy the “weird group” of supervillains coming together for a mission, led by Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. Stan’s Bucky Barnes will be part of the squad, which also includes David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov and Geraldine Viswanathan’s Mel, among others. It sounds like Thunderbolts is set to bring plenty of action and surprises to the Marvel universe!
