Second phase of COVID-19 vaccination to begin from March 1

The Union Cabinet has passed the decision for the second phase of COVID-19 immunization from Monday, March 1.

Citizens above the age of 60 and 45-year-olds can get vaccinated at government or private hospitals, but the vaccination will be free of cost at government hospitals, Union Minister Prakash Jadekar said.

The government has been pushing for the vaccination drive since there has been a surge in new Coronavirus cases. The country had 10,584 new Coronavirus cases with 13,255 recoveries and 78 deaths.

“14 lakh people have received a second dose as well. In the first phase, healthcare and frontline workers were vaccinated, and the expenditure was borne by the government,” he said.
