
Benchmark stock index Sensex gained 610 points to closed 52,154 for the very first time on Monday. The BSE index touched a record high of 52,235.97 during the day. NSE Nifty also hit a peak of 15,327 in the intra-day trade and closed at 15,315-mark, up 151 points or 1 percent.
Axis Bank was the top gainer on the index with 6.21%, followed by gains in ICICI Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, IndusInd Bank Bajaj Finserv, HDFC, and HDFC Bank.
22 stocks lost on the NSE Nifty today, while 28 stocks gained. SBI Life, HDFC Life, TCS, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Grasim, and Tech M were the top losers on the index.
Global Markets also gained for the consecutive 11 days with covid vaccine roll-out and financial aid from Washington. Tensions in the Middle East raised oil prices to all-time high of 13 months.
