Sensex hits 43,000-mark for first time ever on COVID-19 vaccine cheer

As global investors cheered progress in the development of a COVID-19 vaccine, the BSE Sensex touched the 43,000-mark for the first time, zooming 680.22 points or 1.60 per cent to close at 43,277.65. However, the NSE Nifty settled 1.36 per cent higher at 12,631. It must be noted here that the US-based drug maker Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine was found to be 90 per cent effective in preventing infection, sparking renewed optimism in equities worldwide.
