Alexis Ohanian and Serena Williams have some happy news to share with the world. The couple will soon give birth to their second kid.
On Monday, July 31, they had a gender reveal party, but the way the parents announced it left the guests in splits and afterwards in aw. The couple already has a child together, Olympia, who is 5 years old. When the former tennis player arrived at the gender reveal celebration that also served as her baby shower, she boldly announced that she was “team pink.” Her skirt and blouse, which were pink and white, elegantly emphasised her growing baby belly.
William appeared a little uneasy in a video of the celebrations that was uploaded on YouTube, joking that she hadn’t made a “contingency plan” in case it was a boy. The outside party had colourful decorations, such as a balloon arch made of all different colours, and a big sign that said, “Our Next Great Adventure.”
Long white poles decorated with colourful balloon bouquets that looked like trees were placed throughout the beautiful grounds for guests to relax on. Cosy matching blankets were also strategically placed throughout the area. The 41-year-old was shocked by Ohanian’s decision to add a lighthearted twist to the gender reveal occasion because he was unaware of his preparations.
He placed an order for a yellow cake rather than the customary pink or blue cake to confuse her. In the video, the father said in a low voice, “I’m doing this because I want to troll her and Olympia into thinking that this is the reveal of Jelly Bean,” referring to the adorable moniker they give their child. He hoped she would find his joke amusing, but he also worried that she could scoff and say that he gave her a “goddamn cake gender reveal.”
She smiled and playfully smeared the cake on a plate as the former tennis player cut into it and revealed it to be yellow. Everyone was in utter aww during the gender reveal, which the soon-to-be father of two made especially special.
He encouraged everyone to look up at the sky and asked the DJ to play some music to build the mood. Soon, a dazzling display of drones formed the word “Girl!” in the sky. Every single guest was observed applauding and having a good time. The three-person family, who will soon welcome member number four, was unable to contain their joy and was spotted shouting and hugging in the midst of the clapping.
The tennis champion had previously announced her second pregnancy on Instagram in May. She had exchanged several endearing images with her husband, one of which showed her cuddling her bump.
