Pune based Serum Institute of India (SII) on Sunday applied to the DCGI seeking emergency use authorisation for it’s Oxford and AstraZeneca vaccine in the country. The vaccine is named ‘Covidshied’ and is the first candidate that is being tested in India. This comes a day after US based Plifzer sought approval from DCGI for EUA of its COVID-19 vaccine in India. In terms of safety, Covidshied retains from adverse effects and is not associated with an increased number of deaths, a source stated quoting the application.
