Serum Institute dispatches Covidshield to Myanmar, Seychelles, Mauritius

The Serum Institute of India`s (SII) consignment of ‘Covidshield’ is scheduled to be sent to Myanmar, Seychelles, and Mauritius today as New Delhi grant assistance. The consignment has arrived at Mumbai Airport early morning.

According to sources, 1.5 million doses of the Covidshield vaccine will reach Yangon, Myanmar on January 22. As a part of India’s vaccine donation program VaccineMaitri, Seychelles will receive 50,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine. Mauritius will receive a consignment of 100,000 doses under India’s vision of ‘SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region’.

India will also dispatch 2 million doses of Covidshield vaccines to Brazil and Morocco under the commercial agreement.

The Ministry of External Affairs had announced a vaccine rollout for Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, and Seychelles from Wednesday conforms with its `Neighbourhood First Policy`.
