Shah Rukh Khan opens up about dropping out of Slumdog Millionaire

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan stated that he was given the role of host in the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. At the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai, the superstar opened up about working in Hollywood, confirming that Danny Boyle offered him the role. However, he turned down the role, which finally went to Anil Kapoor. Interestingly, SRK was hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati, in India when Danny Boyle offered him a role.

Speaking at the event, Shah Rukh said, “Yes, Slumdog was there, now that you mention it. And I spend a lot of time with Mr. Boyle. He’s very sweet. But I was doing Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Kaun Banega Crorepati) on television, successfully at that time. And I just felt in the story that was being told, the guy who was hosting was very mean, in the story that was being told.”

SRK stated that the makers of Kaun Banega Crorepati suggested his name for the film. But he wasn’t interested in pursuing the role because the host in the film was portrayed as a dishonest person.

He added, “So I explained to Mr. Boyle that I wouldn’t like to do it, please, and there are way better actors than me. And I think Mr. Anil Kapoor did it and he was fantastic as the host.”
