Shah Rukh Khan’s 2025 has been nothing short of special. The superstar, who turned 60 this year, finally received his first National Award for Best Actor for his powerful performance in Atlee’s Jawan. The milestone came after a 33-year-long career filled with blockbuster films and millions of admirers.
At a special fan event in Mumbai on his birthday, Shah Rukh looked back on his journey with gratitude and honesty. He revealed that there was a time when not winning major honours affected him deeply. “Ten to fifteen years ago, I used to feel bad when I didn’t get an award because I believed I gave my best every time,” he admitted, smiling at the cheering crowd.
Reflecting on his earlier years, the actor explained that creative work often needs validation. “I work very hard, but sometimes I have felt bad when my efforts weren’t recognised. In theatre, people applauding was our biggest validation,” he shared.
However, Shah Rukh has now found meaning beyond trophies. He said that meeting his fans gives him more joy than any award. “Whether I win or not, moments like these with my fans mean the most,” he said.
Talking about his National Award win, Shah Rukh expressed gratitude to the selection committee, adding warmly, “I’m thankful to everyone who made this choice. It’s a great honour.”
