Carlos Sainz, a Formula One driver, is allegedly the matchmaker behind the rumours that Lewis Hamilton and Shakira are in a relationship.
Over the course of the summer, the Colombian singer and British racing star were seen spending more and more time together, stoking rumours of a possible connection. Public events, such as a boat ride in Miami and a dinner with friends in Barcelona, have only fueled the craze. According to sources, Shakira and Hamilton are currently keeping things lighthearted and playful and would rather enjoy each other’s company than jump into a serious relationship.
After 11 years of dating football player Gerard Pique, Shakira recently confirmed their breakup. She is currently taking her time before committing totally to a new relationship. On the other side, since splitting from his longtime girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger, Hamilton has been linked to a number of famous ladies, including Rita Ora and Nicki Minaj.

According to Spanish sports journalist Pip Estrada, Hamilton’s close buddy Sainz set up the relationship between the Formula One racer and the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer. Sainz introduced Shakira to Formula One, according to Estrada, knowing that Hamilton like Shakira’s music. She is aware that Hamilton enjoys her music, and suddenly she develops an interest in Formula 1; this is how they met, according to Estrada.
Tom Cruise is also said to have been interested in Shakira, but it seems that she rejected him and expressed her love in Hamilton instead. The Miami Grand Prix was attended by Shakira and Cruise, who is also friends with Hamilton, apparently thought they got along well. Shakira, though, made it apparent that Hamilton has Cruise’s heart, wounding Cruise’s ego. Hamilton and Shakira’s agents have been contacted for comment amid the rumours, but no formal statements have been made public.
In the midst of the dating rumours, Shakira accepted the Latin Women in Music gala’s Woman of the Year award from Billboard and spoke about the year that followed her breakup with Pique. “This has been a year of seismic change in my life, where I’ve felt more than ever—and very personally—what it is to be a woman,” she said in her acceptance speech. In the past year, I’ve come to the realisation that women are more independent, braver, more strong than we previously assumed.
