Shakti Mohan opens up about Katrina Kaif’s hard work on Dhoom 3’s Kamli; clarifies body double rumours

More than a decade after Dhoom 3 hit theatres, Katrina Kaif’s Kamli dance number continues to be remembered as one of the most striking performances of her career. The song, celebrated for its fluid movement and intense energy, has often sparked curiosity among fans, particularly around whether a body double was used for the demanding choreography.

That speculation has now been addressed. In a recent interaction with Filmygyan, dancer and choreographer Shakti Mohan explained that while she assisted choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant during the making of Kamli, Katrina performed the routine herself. According to Shakti, the actor trained extensively for the song, rehearsing for nearly a month and a half to perfect the movements and rhythm.

She clarified that Katrina handled all the dance portions on her own, choosing to push herself physically despite the difficulty level. Only a few acrobatic stunts required an external performer, for which the team brought in a specialist from France. Even then, Katrina reportedly insisted on filming as much of the sequence herself as possible.

Shakti also recalled the physical toll the shoot took on the actor, revealing that Katrina walked away with multiple bruises due to the intense choreography. She described Katrina as extremely committed, adding that the actor refused to give up even during the toughest steps, including a challenging back-arch movement.

Reflecting on the experience, Shakti shared that Katrina later sent her a thoughtful gift along with a handwritten note, a gesture that highlighted not just her professionalism but also her appreciation for the team behind the iconic number.
