Shanaya Kapoor opens up on dealing with online criticism and finding support in her mother

Shanaya Kapoor has addressed the constant scrutiny that has followed her since stepping into Bollywood, admitting that online comments can sometimes take an emotional toll. In a recent interaction, the actor reflected on how she navigates social media feedback and the role her family plays in helping her stay grounded.

Speaking to Zoom, Shanaya shared that she regularly reads comments on her posts and believes not all criticism should be dismissed. According to her, feedback related to her work be it her performance or dancing is something she pays close attention to, even when it is expressed harshly. She views such remarks as a reality check and an important part of understanding audience expectations, noting that acceptance comes from listening rather than avoiding opinions altogether.

However, the actor drew a clear line between professional feedback and personal remarks. Comments targeting her appearance, including her physique or facial features, are things she consciously chooses to ignore. Shanaya acknowledged that while such remarks can hurt at times, avoiding the emotional impact entirely can be challenging, making it important for her to process those feelings honestly.

During moments when criticism feels overwhelming, Shanaya turns to her mother, Maheep Kapoor. She described her mother as her strongest support system, someone she trusts deeply and considers her closest confidante and best friend.

On the work front, Shanaya was last seen in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, a romantic drama directed by Santosh Singh and written by Mansi Bagla. Adapted from Ruskin Bond’s short story The Eyes Have It, the film also starred Vikrant Massey. Despite drawing attention ahead of its release, the film received mixed reviews and did not perform well at the box office.
