Sharad Pawar to skip day 1 of Opposition’s Bengaluru meeting hosted by Congress

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Sharad Pawar, who is currently fighting a subdued battle with nephew Ajit Pawar for control over party, will skip the day 1 of opposition parties meeting in Bengaluru. However, he will be attended the meeting on day 2, along with his daughter Supriya Sule, as confirmed by party spokesperson Mahesh Tapase. At least 26 political opposition are slated to attend the meeting in Bengaluru, which is scheduled for July 17 and 18. This move to form a combined alliance against BJP ahead of next year’s general elections.

For those unaware, Ajit Pawar rebelled against his uncle as joined hands with Eknath Shinde – Devendra Fadnavis led Maharashtra government. Pawar took oath as a Deputy Chief Minister, the post which he will be sharing with Fadnavis, on July 2. Along with him, other prominent leaders of NCP – namely Praful Patel, Chhagan Bhujbal and others – walked away with Ajit Pawar.

The NCP leaders who joined the ruling Maharashtra government were awarded with key portfolios during the cabinet reshuffle in the state, such as Finance and Planning portfolio was bagged by Ajit Pawar.
