Sharib Hasmi’s reaction on ‘call for ban’ against Family Man 2

Actor Sharif Hashmi in an exclusive interview with IndianExpress has spoken about his experience working with south star Samatha Akkineni and his view on the recent ban controversy against Family Man 2

Actor Sharib Hashmi is portraying the role of JK Talpade in the Family Man series. The actor is as excited for the release of the second part of the series as the audience. He said, “We loved making it, and I know people will love watching it too.” The show is directed by Raj and DK and it sees Manoj Bajpayee playing undercover spy Srikant Tiwari, while JK is his assistant.

In a fun interview with IndianExpress, the actor revealed how he reacted when he saw the script of the second season. “When your first season becomes such a strike, things get on the verge. I was equally curious about a lot of aspects at the end of season one, just like the viewers. But they’ll get all the answers. Season two was so absorbing, I read it in one go. The thrill element is very fast-paced this time with more action scenes. My hopes rose after reading the script and I knew then and there that we’ve got another champion. Like how the first season rebuilt my career, it’s the second season will take it to newer heights, Sharif shared.

The Family Man 2 also notes the digital debut of South star Samantha Akkineni. Sharib said he was already amazed by her hard work. He said “When I first saw her on set, she was delivering a powerful scene. She had come fully prepared and completely absorbed in her character. I’ve seen her previous work and I admire her. She’s done remarkable work in Super Deluxe. But I realised she has surpassed even that when I saw her with Manoj sir. Though I didn’t have many shoots with her, whatever I did was a memorable experience.”

Sharib was quoting to the controversy The Family Man 2 encountered days before its release when a certain category demanded a ban on the series for portraying the Eelam Tamils in a “highly objectionable manner.”

“People get offended at anything nowadays. All those who objected after watching the trailer, should watch the whole sequel and then decide. Raj and DK have surveyed a lot for this season, done a lot of creative back-and-forth for the region where they’ve based the story this time,” Sharib clarified.
