Shimla – A mesmerising city to explore

Here are some of the best places to visit in Shimla.

Shimla is the only place in the world where you can see the Himalayas in all their mysterious beauty.  Evergreen hills, winding mountains, majestic streams, a warm atmosphere, and a colonial ambiance combine to give this hill station its own distinct beauty. The place genuinely lives up to its name, with a diverse wide range of destinations – natural splendours and also man-made wonders. The following is a list of attractions in Shimla.

In terms of geography and tourist sites, the Ridge may be considered Shimla’s core. This Shimla heritage site is basically a broad street that links the Mall Road to the popular Scandal Point from east to west. Long-established British restaurants abound, beckoning tourists to engage in feel-good shopping and snacking. Because of its lush scenic scenery and the Gothic architecture that characterise its grandeur, this location is one of the most photographed in the world.

2. Kufri

Kufri is yet another must-see destination in the city. You can enjoy spectacular views of the nearby snow-capped mountains from this remote hill station. It’s also a snow adventure centre with ice hockey and skiing training and services. As a result, it is also regarded as India’s winter sports capital. Throughout the winter, Kufri receives a lot of snow and is one of the best places to visit.

The Himachal State Museum, also identified as Shimla State Museum, is situated in a colonial mansion on Mall Road. It houses a large number of miniature paintings, stone statues, coins, arms, armors, toys, jewels, arts and crafts, and numismatic articles that were found in the valley. All of the artefacts collected here are part of the state’s rich history and culture.

4. Chadwick Falls

Chadwick Waterfall, snuggled within the Glen Forests, is among the most beautiful sights Shimla has to offer. The waterfall plummets from a height of 86 metres and cascades into a massive gorge. It offers an inviting sight, covered by a canopy of greenery created by deodar and pine trees. It’s better to go during the monsoon season, when the level of water rises and Chadwick takes on an existence of its own.

5. Annandale

Since the time of the British authorities, Annandale, a flat landscape in the hilly foundation of Shimla, has been used as a playground. Polo, cricket, and cycling are only a few of the activities that have made the location famous in recent years. Annandale, in the western portion of Shimla, is flanked by oak and deodar trees and sits in a deep valley. It is also one of the best places to visit in Shimla in November because of its magnificent elegance.
