The TLC show “19 Kids and Counting” made the Duggar family nationwide famous even before the Kardashians and Jenners or the real housewives of Beverly Hills. This show marked the fame of the Duggars.
The Christian joint family consisting of 20 members followed the path of the Institute of Basic Life Principles (IBLP). The family was led by the parents, father Jim Bob Duggar and mother Michelle Duggar. They teach the members discipline, domination, obedience by following the path of God. During the course of the show, the 19 kids were a perfect example of American Christian family. They never rose their voices neither went against their parent’s orders.
On June 2, 2023, the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video released a documentary on their life -“Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.” The series has four episodes which reveals the teachings and scandals of the IBLP made them abuse within themselves.

1. Josh Duggar started molesting his sisters at 12 years
Jim Bob Duggar’s friend Jim Holt and his wife Bobye Holt revealed, how Jim Bob once said his son Josh was in trouble as he molested his sisters since he was 12 years old. During that time, Josh was only 15 and he was planing to get married to the Holt couple’s daughter Kaeleigh Holt.
The Holt got shocked and asked if Jim is using Kaeleigh as a “carrot” to get Josh to “behave the right way”, he said “yeah, kind of.”
2. Jinger Duggar was the first to break stereotypes
Among the 19 children, Jinger Duggar now, JInger Vuolo was the first child to break the stereotypes and wear pants. She also wore tank tops, short skirts, sleeveless tops and non-modest dresses. Jinger started a new life in California after marrying Jeremy Vuolo, the former soccer player.
3. Josh Duggar Arrested For Child Pornography
On April 2021, Josh Duggar was arrested on charges of child pornography. On May 2022, he was proved guilty and jailed for 12 years. During the hearing, investigators proved how child sexual abuse clips were downloaded in 2019 at Josh’s car dealership computer. The documentary revealed how Josh’s upbringing made him a molester.
