One of the most praised films of the year is Michael B. Jordan’s Sinners, which also became a worldwide box office success. Did you miss it in theatres? Don’t worry, JioHotstar will shortly feature the Ryan Coogler-directed film.
On September 18, Sinnners will be available on JioHotstar. The upgrade was made available on the platform’s website and app as part of its future release catalogue. In Sinners, Michael Jordan is portrayed as Smoke and Stack, identical twin brothers who try to move on from their difficult past by returning to their Mississippi birthplace.
Unfortunately, when they return home, they encounter a more powerful evil. The movie takes place in the American South in 1932, when racial discrimination was still legal under Jim Crow legislation. Miles Caton, Delroy Lindo, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, and Hailee Steinfeld are also featured. When the movie was released in April of this year, it was widely praised and went on to earn nearly $366 million worldwide.
A number of Hollywood celebrities, including Pedro Pascal and Tom Cruise, gave the movie high marks and congratulated the filmmakers on its success. Director Ryan Coogler thanked fans for their love and support of the film in an emotional open letter that he sent after its release.
“We felt a great duty to entertain and move you in a way that only cinema can, and we never lost sight of you, the audience. I think that films exist. I think the theatre experience is important. It is, in my opinion, an essential social cornerstone. That is the reason I have devoted my life to the craft, as have many of my colleagues. If you don’t turn up, we can’t do what we do,” he said.
