Skoda announces all-new Skoda compact SUV for the Indian market

A sub-4 metre compact SUV from Skoda Auto India will be on launch in the first half of 2025. The new model, which will be designed and developed in India, is expected to compete with vehicles such as the Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Kia Sonet.

The new Skoda compact SUV, like the Skoda Slavia mid-size sedan and the Skoda Kushaq mid-size SUV, will be built on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN platform, which was developed jointly by teams in India and the Czech Republic with a focus on high localisation, low ownership costs, and short turnaround times. Additionally, it is the company’s first platform developed outside of Europe.

Skoda stated that customers will receive the excise benefits in the cost of the compact SUV. Given that it is the brand’s entry-level product in India, volume growth is expected.

Skoda intends to sell 100,000 vehicles per year in India by 2026, with the goal of becoming the best-selling European brand in the nation by 2030 and achieving a 5% market share for all Volkswagen Group brands as part of its regional responsibility.
