‘Society of the Snow’, a forthcoming survival thriller film based on the real-life 1972 Andes plane accident in Uruguay, has debuted its first teaser trailer on Netflix. The movie will screen for the first time at the Venice International Film Festival in 2023.
The graphic aftermath of the catastrophic plane crash is highlighted in the video. The Old Christians Club rugby union team, along with their families and friends, were among the 45 passengers on the aircraft. Later this year, the movie is anticipated to make its Netflix premiere.

What to Expect in Society of the Snow?
The summary states that in 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, which had been hired to transport a rugby team to Chile, crashed in the Andes. Only 29 of the 45 passengers managed to survive the crash. They are forced to take drastic means to survive while trapped in one of the planet’s most hostile and inhospitable places.
Enzo Vogrincic, Agustn Pardella, Matas Recalt, Esteban Bigliardi, Diego Vegezzi, Fernando Contigiani Garcz, Esteban Kukuriczka, Rafael Federman, Francisco Romero, Valentino Alonso, Tomás Wolf, Agustn Della Corte, Felipe Otao, Andy Pruss, Blas Polidori, Felipe Ramusio, and Simón Hempe all appear in the movie.
Know the team
J.A. Bayona is the director of Society of the Snow, which he also co-wrote with Bernat Vilaplana, Jaime Marques, and Nicolás Casariego. It is based on Pablo Vierci’s narrative, who was one of the saved survivors. Vierci serves as an associate producer alongside Bayona, Sandra Hermida, and Belén Atienza on the movie. Production designer Alain Bainée, director of photography Pedro Luque Briozzo SCU, editors Jaume Mart and Andrés Gil, and composer Michael Giacchino make up the creative team.
